"I started at CHTA around four years ago as the trauma-informed yoga provider, fresh out of yoga teacher training with no experience in the trauma field. Even so, from the very beginning, Doreen was my mentor, advocate, and motivator—offering me countless opportunities to learn and inspiring me to take on larger roles in our clients’ healing journeys. Her passion for CHTA and for healing has shaped not only my professional path but also my desire to bring trauma-informed care into schools, which I am currently working towards through graduate studies in school psychology. I know, without a doubt, that the foundation Doreen and CHTA gave me opened this door and continues to guide my work today, showing that CHTA’s influence, rooted in a small rural town in northeast Colorado, reaches far beyond—across counties, across professions, and across professional settings. It’s hard to believe that one woman could be at the heart of all the innovation, creativity, community, and profound healing that CHTA brings to Colorado—until you meet Doreen Hills; she has built not only a pioneering center for trauma treatment in northeast Colorado but also a true home in CHTA, where compassion and connection guide every aspect of the work. I am endlessly grateful to be part of the family she has created."
