Matthew McClain is a veteran school counselor in rural Northeast Colorado with K-12 experience dating back to 2005. Since 2017, he has served as the Executive Director of the Colorado School Counselor Association (CSCA), building on a long history of leadership within both CSCA and ASCA. A passionate advocate for social-emotional learning and systemic change, Matthew was recently honored as the 2025-2026 Colorado School Counselor of the Year. He is dedicated to fostering strong relationships to benefit children and enjoys life in Colorado with his wife of 28 years and their three children. Matthew has served on the CHTA board of directors since 2015 and has recently joined the team presenting training modules on Complex Trauma through the Complex Trauma Training Consortium (CTTC).
